The Cleveland Indians visit the Chicago Cubs on Tuesday night. First pitch will be at 6:05 p.m. central time. Trevor Bauer will take the mound for Clevelend in game one of this short tow game stint at Wrigley. Bauer is an even 3-3 on the year, with a 2.59 ERA. Tyler Chatwood will get the nod for the Cubs. Chatwood is also 3-3, but he has a 3.14 ERA. Both pitchers will look to get their record above .500.
In their division, the Indians are in first place in the American League Central division with their 22-23 record. They currently hold a 1 game lead over Minnesota, a lead they will look to hold onto against the Cubs. The Cubs, on the other hand, are third place in their division, the National League Central, with their 25-19 record. They are 2 games behind Milwaukee, so a win on Tuesday could potentially cut their deficit in half. The Indians and Cubs are both -110 in this matchup.

Cleveland Indians
Cleveland is coming into this game after dropping two straight series to Detroit and Houston. They will certainly be looking to get on track against their former World Series foes. However, disposing of the Cubs will be no easy task.
For Cleveland, Erik Gonzalez has been huge in his 22 games. He is hitting an incredible .361, while driving in 7 runs. He gets on base in nearly 40% of his plate appearances. Michael Brantley has also been impressive for Cleveland. He has appeared in 35 games for them, and batted .331. He has also driven in an impressive 29 runs thus far. Look for one or both of these men to be a big factor in this matchup.
Chicago Cubs
For the Cubs, Tommy La Stella has been quietly producing. He doesn’t have any homeruns in his 37 games, but he is hitting .339 and gets on base 40% of the time. While his power numbers may not be gaudy, he has been a consistent hitter all season long. Kris Bryant, however, looks to be on pace to have another 25-30 homerun year, as he already has 8 this year. He also boasts a .305 batting average.
Overall, 7 regulars are batting .250 or more for the Cubs. Any one of these men could be a big factor in deciding this game. Look for the Cubs to do whatever they can to get men on base for Bryant to drive them in.
Cubs top Indians
Although Cleveland is in first place in their division, their below .500 record doesn’t say much for the division’s competitiveness. They also just dropped a series to the weak Detroit Tigers earlier this week before wearing themselves out against the very tough Astros. While Cleveland is certainly a good team, it would take a big performance from someone to propel them over the powerfully hitting Cubs. It is more likely that we will see a big performance out of the Cubs than the Indians. Take the Cubs at -110.
