Week 11 in the realm of College Football brings us an enticing matchup straight from Eugene, where the USC Trojans hit the road to face off against the Oregon Ducks in Pac-12 action. The USC Trojans have encountered some recent struggles, losing three of their last five games. Their most recent setback was a home loss to Washington, which dropped their season record to 7-3.
Meanwhile, Oregon has its sights set on a berth in the Pac-12 title game, having suffered only one loss this season. The Ducks have strung together three consecutive victories, including a commanding 44-point win over California last week. If the Oregon Ducks continue winning, they’re poised to secure a spot in the title game, most likely against Washington. The Oregon Ducks are -15 favorites in this game over USC on Saturday.
Former Heisman Not Going Back to Back
Caleb Williams may wear the USC Trojans’ colors, but he isn’t in contention for this season’s Heisman Trophy. Despite his remarkable performance last year, several other quarterbacks, such as Penix Jr., Bo Nix, JJ McCarthy, and a handful of others, have posted stellar seasons while also benefiting from more successful team efforts. Williams still is considered to be the top pick in the 2024 NFL Draft.
Williams is merely 42 yards away from reaching the 3,000-yard milestone this season, with an impressive 28 touchdown passes to his name, six of which have landed in the capable hands of Tahj Washington. Washington needs 167 more receiving yards to reach 1,000 for the season. MarShawn Lloyd serves as the primary ground threat for the Trojans, and his first carry of the game will mark his 100th of the season.
The USC Trojans will wrap up their regular season next Saturday with a home game against the UCLA Bruins.
Nix May Take the Award Away from Williams
Although Bo Nix garners much attention when discussing Oregon Football, it’s evident that the Ducks have talent throughout their roster. Nix boasts impressive stats, with 2,723 passing yards, 25 touchdowns, and just two interceptions this season. Troy Franklin stands out as his primary target, needing a mere 54 additional receiving yards to reach the 1,000-yard mark for the season.
Furthermore, Bucky Irving has solidified his status as one of the nation’s top running backs, having already accumulated nine rushing touchdowns this season. Oregon has excelled offensively, leading all of College Football with an average of 47.4 points per game. They combine an air attack that generates 330.6 passing yards per game with a potent ground game, averaging 209.2 rushing yards per game. Defensively, the Ducks have also shone, allowing just 16 points per game.
In their remaining schedule, the Ducks are set to face Arizona State on the road and then return home to take on Oregon State on November 24th to conclude their regular season.
Ducks Fly High over Trojans
The USC Trojans are an absolute mess on defense. Caleb Williams cannot make miracles happen. It’s too bad too, because this or the season finale could be the final game we see Williams play in college. The Ducks are going to smash the Trojans here. Oregon is too much on both sides of the ball. Look for a 51-24 type game as Oregon wins in a laugher. Bet the Oregon Ducks -15 on Saturday.
