As the Jazz head to Staples Center to face the Clippers, an exciting battle is set to ensue. Who would have thought that when these two teams met at this juncture, that Utah would have a better record? And the fact that the Clippers are 21-8 and only the second-best team in the matchup is truly incredible.
After going just 4-4 in their first eight games, something seemed to click for the Utah Jazz. They have now won 19 of their past 20 games, entering action with a very impressive (and surprising) 23-5 record. Quin Snyder is without a doubt the coach of the year so far, and Jordan Clarkson looks to be a runaway winner for the sixth man of the year award. What more could Jazz fans want?
The Clippers will be short-handed once again, Paul George and Kawhi Leonard unavailable to play. Marcus Morris scored 26 in the first half of a close win against Miami, one that again proved how impressive the backups could be for LA. Despite being down four starters, they found a way to take down the defending Eastern Conference champs.
ODDS:
The spread for Wednesday night favors the visiting Jazz by 2.5. The over/under is set at 222 points. The UTAH moneyline is -133, while LA’s is +110.
Utah Looks to Make it 20 of 21
No team has shocked more than the Jazz this year. Donovan Mitchell and Rudy Gobert seem to be buddies again, as the team is just unable to lose. They overcame a 42-point night from Ben Simmons to hold off the 76ers 134-123 on Monday night, thanks to Jordan Clarkson coming off the bench to drop 40 big ones. Somebody is always stepping up for them.
Even as Mike Conley has been out for several games, the wins have continued. Joe Ingles has continued to slide seamlessly in and out of the starting lineup, as he did a season ago. The chemistry is just there for this team, the 3-1 blown lead in the first round bringing them closer together.
There are still a lot of games left. But the Jazz have been a joy.
Clippers Look to Surprise
A 21-8 team looking for an upset? Very rare. This is also how many folks will feel when the Nets, just a few games over .500, take on the Lakers on Thursday night. The Clippers possess a lot of talent, even at the end of their bench, as they have been recently showing off.
Patrick Patterson can come in and bury threes. Terence Mann has been an incredible defender, and Amir Coffey just showed that he can knock down the threes at a high clip. Lou Williams is also looking like an All-Star during his recent starts. It’s too bad he didn’t get the nod in the prior few campaigns.
The Clippers can never be counted out, a team always working hard to maintain success. Injuries or not, they’ve always got a shot.
Jazz Win Yet Again
The game will be close, but the advantage goes to Utah.
