The New York Rangers will take on the Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday night for an interconference showdown. While the Rangers have clearly been the better team here, Vancouver can make it interesting against anyone they play and that should lead to an exciting contest. New York comes into this one with the third most points in the Metropolitan Division at 28-14-8 and accumulating 64 points throughout the season thus far. The Canucks, on the other hand, are currently in third to last place in the Pacific Division with 44 points and is 20-26-4.
Is this an Easy Win for New York?
There are a few ways that we can think about this game, but if the Rangers come out and do what they’re supposed to do, there’s a very good chance that they win this game with ease. They’ve clearly been one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference this season and that’s all because of what they can do on the defensive side of the puck and in the net.
Furthermore, the Rangers are coming off some impressive wins here as they just beat the Calgary Flames and Vegas Golden Knights in back-to-back games. They were able to score at least four goals in both of those games and even came away with an overtime win against a Calgary Flames team that many regards as one of the best in hockey.
If their attack can continue scoring goals at an elite level just like they have throughout the past few weeks, they’re going to be virtually unbeatable when it matters most. Everybody knows who’s behind the net for them at this point and if Igor continues to play at an elite level, the Rangers truly have it all.
Can The Canucks Play Spoiler?
Despite the Canucks not having the year that they were necessarily hoping for, this team has still had a decent year and could beat anybody in hockey on any given night. When looking at their past few games, they have wins over the Blackhawks, Hurricanes, and Avalanche. The issue for Vancouver in most games is their inability to get stops at a high level.
This is a mixture of their defense being bad and their goalies also not getting the job done. This isn’t even just one of their goalies as both typically have rough nights. Due to how well the Rangers have played on the attack recently, this is something major to remember for this game.
Vancouver Canucks vs. New York Rangers Prediction
Because of how well the Rangers have played throughout the entire season and how well they’ve looked throughout the past few weeks, it might not be a bad idea to back them here. Although the odds are going to be just -240 on the moneyline, it’s probably best to get a little interesting here.
Instead, taking the Rangers at -150 on the 60-minute line could be the best bet of the night. That’s still great value for the Rangers to find a way to win, and honestly, it would be kind of surprising if they didn’t find a way to win this game in regulation on their home ice. The Canucks will be tough, but the Rangers are simply the better team here, and that’s what we have to go with.
