The Seattle Kraken will host the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday for an exciting Western Conference Showdown. This is going to be a game between two playoff teams as the Golden Knights will look to clinch the top seed in the Western Conference, and the Kraken have made the playoffs.

While this game looks to be more important for the Seattle Kraken because they can jump the Los Angeles Kings and Minnesota Wild, the Kraken do still have something to play for here. They will need at least one point to finish with the #1 seed in the Western Conference, as the Edmonton Oilers could still jump them. If they were to lose this game in a shootout or overtime, they would also get the #1 seed.

If guys like Jack Eichel can get going for Vegas on Thursday night, Seattle is going to have a tough time winning this game. He comes into this one with 65 points and a plus-minus of +25 on the season.

Maybe a Bigger Game for Seattle

Although getting the #1 seed would be a huge deal for the Vegas Golden Knights, the Seattle Kraken might have even more to play for on Thursday.

The Kraken are in the first wild-card spot and can’t be caught from behind no matter what. They’re automatically in the playoffs even if they were to lose this game in regulation or any other way. However, a win for the Kraken and a loss from Los Angeles would put the Kings down to the wild card and the Kraken up to the #3 seed in the Pacific Division.

That would be huge for them as they would have a much easier path to potentially winning a Stanley Cup than they currently do.
