The Chicago White Sox visit Target Field to take on the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday night. First pitch is scheduled for 7:10 central. The White Sox are 19-39 on the year, earning them last place in the American League Central division. Meanwhile, their divisional foe, the Twins, are in third at 26-31. Both teams don’t look to be contending at this point but, at only 4 games out, the Twins could, with a winning streak, still slip into the playoff picture later in the year.
Hector Santiago will take the mound for the White Sox in this one. Santiago is 1-2 on the year, and has a 5.10 ERA. The southpaw will look to even his record after his team split the doubleheader against the Twins yesterday, winning the nightcap.
For Minnesota, Jake Odorizzi will be on the hill. He has a winning record, at 3-2, and a 4.14 ERA. He will really be wanting to get that fourth win on the year. Minnesota is favored in this matchup: at -177.

White Sox
Amid all the minor league buzz that the White Sox’s prospects generate, there has been little success at the highest level. Despite some flashes of brilliance, they have pretty much had a typical building year. However, with wavering fan interest, the White Sox will be looking to have some sort of winning going on this season. Getting loss number 40 before win number 20 is something they are going to try to avoid.
Unsurprisingly, Jose Abreu is performing well for the White Sox. His batting average is again over the .300 mark, at .301. He has also driven in 35 runs and has hit 10 home runs. Being a consistent contributor, the South Siders will need more production from him to win.
Minnesota Twins
After their surprise season a year ago that ended against the Yankees in the wild card game, the Twins came into this season looking to establish themselves as a contender. The least they would have wanted to do was show themselves to be the best team in their otherwise weak division (Besides Cleveland). They have done neither. They will hope to take at least one of their two remaining games with the Sox in town before the Angels visit on Friday.
Coming off a rare 3 home run performance against the Indians this past weekend, Eddie Rosario will look to help the Twins do just that. He is hitting .314 so far this season while driving in 40 runs. He also has 13 home runs. He will need to keep up the good play to help propel Minnesota to a win.
White Sox Surprise Twins
With as bad the White Sox have been this season overall, they have played decently against their divisional rivals, from their dominance in Kansas City to their recent wins in Minneapolis. Three White Sox hitters are batting .500 or more against Odorizzi, and Santiago has surprised some people this year. Look for the White Sox’s momentum to continue with another hot hitting night from Jose Abreu, and for them to finally get win number 20. Take the White Sox at +152.
