The Winnipeg Jets will take on the Vegas Golden Knights on Thursday for Game 5 of the first round in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Vegas has completely outplayed Winnipeg this series, as they’re going to be coming in with a 3-1 lead.
With this one being a deciding factor if they’re going to advance to the second round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, and it being on their home ice, it would make sense if Vegas finds a way to win.
They’ve been a great team all season long as they finished with the number one seed in the Western Conference, finishing two points ahead of the Edmonton Oilers and Colorado Avalanche.
The books also believe that Vegas is going to win this game as they come in as -190 favorites on the moneyline and +145 on the puck line.
Vegas Can Close The Series Out
It’s easy to see why people do believe that the Vegas Golden Knights have a legitimate chance of winning the cup this season. Many believed that they were the best team during the regular season outside of the Boston Bruins, and that gives them +1000 odds to win the Stanley Cup.
In terms of the conference winner, they currently have the third-highest odds at +330. What they’ve done in their last three games against Winnipeg has been nothing short of impressive, as they came away with 5-2, 5-4, and 4-2 wins.
They had a disappointing game in the first game of the series, losing 5-1, but responded in the way that many people were expecting. If they can continue getting production out of some of their top guys, they’re going to be in a very good position to win this game.
Brett Howden is somebody to watch out for with the Golden Knights.
Although he only had 13 points in the regular season, he already has three points in the Stanley Cup playoffs and is a plus-six on the ice. He’s been in big factor for Vegas this playoff and will need to continue doing so if they want a chance to close out this series.
Can Winnipeg Prolong This Series?
The Winnipeg Jets had one of the more interesting seasons in the NHL this year, as they barely snuck into the Stanley Cup Playoffs. They finished the regular season with a 46-33-3 record and ended this season with 95 points.
Although that’s not a bad year by any means, it wasn’t necessarily as impressive as some of the other top teams in the Western Conference. Because of that, most didn’t expect that they were going to have too much success when it mattered most.
Coming back from a 3-1 deficit is nearly impossible, but if they find a way to win this game and can steal Game 6 on their home turf, they might have a chance. However, this is the one game that they have to focus on, and it’s going to be interesting to see if they can find a way to get the job done in Vegas.
Winnipeg Jets at Vegas Golden Knights Game 5 Betting Prediction
Due to this game being played in Las Vegas and the Golden Knights being the better team on paper and playing better than them throughout the first few games of the series, taking them to win this game in any form doesn’t seem like a bad idea.
