$1,500 Dealers Choice Win Goes to Carol Fuchs

wsopWomen competing in the World Series of Poker are few and far between, so unfortunately, more men rather than women earn a gold bracelet. For the 2015 season, the WSOP has awarded several bracelets, with pros earning multiple wins, some taking down their very first event. With the $1,500 Dealers Choice tournament, it was Carol Fuchs who earned the first place win, outlasting the field of 357 competitors to earn the first place win in Nevada.

With the win, Fuchs became the first female to earn a gold bracelet this season and one of only a few female players to have earned a win during an open event. To make the win even sweeter, Fuchs is not a professional poker player and actually works as a Hollywood Screenwriter and was a former entertainment attorney.

Fuchs, the co-writer of the No Reservations screenplay, commented that it is encouraging when someone like herself, an amateur of the game and a woman, plus over 30 years of age, can win a big event such as the WSOP tournament. Fuchs stated she has much respect for what the pros do but for a non-pro to come in and win, it is encouraging for everyone especially amateur players and women.

The Dealers Choice event can feature as many as 18 variants, so players have to be on their toes during game play. During the final table, Fuchs would hang on to make the heads up round where she would face off against Ilya Krupin. In the end, she would take down the win, earn her first WSOP gold bracelet and the $127,735 cash prize!
