This year’s WSOP is almost finished up, wtih today marking the final day of the 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event. Twenty seven players will be coming back to the felt to see who will make the final table and bragging rights until next year. 6,710 players have been eliminated from the competition over the past few days, and now, only a few players remain to have a chance to claim the gold bracelet and top prize for the big event. Leading the pack going in to the final day of play before the final table is named is Vojtech Ruzicka, who has 26,415,000 in chips, with Michael Ruane at a close second with 24,565,000 chips.
The field returning for Day 7 of game play is a tough one with Cliff Josephy and James Obst in the mix. Josephy is a top online player who has earned two WSOP bracelets in previous game play. Josephy sits 3rd in chips while Obst is in 4th, having a solid summer session, cashing out in seven of this year’s WSOP events.
Yesterday during Day 6, 80 players hit the felt at noon, with each player guaranteed a payday of just over $80,000 minimum. The action started quickly and stayed at a fast pace with 17 players going down before the first level was complete. It wouldn’t take long for the remaining 63 to be whittled down to 27 with play then stopped until noon today.
One the tournament resumes today, the action will continue until the November Nine is named. The final table will then return in the fall to compete to see who will be crowned the 2016 World Series of Poker Main Event champion.
