Benny Glaser is a young poker pro of Britain who is doing quite well in the 2016 World Series of Poker. Glaser recently won the $1,500 Omaha Eight-or-Better Event and the very same week earned yet another win during the $10,000 Omaha Eight-or-Better Championship. With the Championship win, Glaser now has three gold bracelets to his name.
Glaser was able to outlast a field of 163 competitors to win the Championship event, also becoming yet another player to win multiple wins during this year’s WSOP. Ian Johns as well as Jason Mercier have also earned wins this year.
The final table of the Championship event would be tough with nine players in total, including the above mentioned Jason Mercier, Matt Glantz and Todd Brunson. In the end, Glaser would remain to face Doug Lorgeree in heads up play. During the heads up portion of the tournament, Glaser would hold a more than 5 to 1 chip lead over Lorgeree after he eliminated Glantz in third.
The final hand would see Glaser two bet and Lorgeree raise again at limits of 150,000 – 300,000. Lorgeree would be all-in with the move and show 10spades-8diamonds-5hearts-3hearts against Glaser’s Jdiamonds-6clubs-3diamonds-3clubs. The board would show Kclubs-5clubs-4spades-8clubs-Jspades which gave Glaser with flush with spades and the win.
After winning the event, Glaser was asked if he was surprised to win two events back to back. The pro stated he was surprised but Omaha eight-or-better is one of his best games and one that he has probably played the most hands with online, so if it was going to happen then it would with this game.
