After a tough slump in 2012, it appears as though Mike Matusow is on quite the heater in 2013. The poker pro earned the NBC National Heads Up Poker Championship title after taking down Phil Hellmuth back in January; and just a few days ago “The Mouth” earned his fourth World Series of Poker bracelet!
Matusow was able to take down Event #13 of the WSOP, otherwise known as the $5,000 Seven Card Stud Hi-Low Split-8 or better tournament. The win earned Matusow just over $266,000 and another piece of gold hardware to add to his collection.
Event #13 saw 210 competitors and Matusow was able to outlast them all to continue his career revitalization. Now that Matusow has four WSOP bracelets, he ties several players with the same amount of career WSOP bracelets. Matusow also joins Amarillo Slim, Bill Boyd, Bobby Baldwin and several more in 22nd place for four total WSOP bracelets.
Matusow commented on the recent win, admitting that he has blown money in the past but this time the win isn’t about money. Matusow stated:
“Yeah, I’ve blow most of it. But it’s never been about money for me. When my head is on straight, I really believe I’m the best in the world. Nobody can beat me when I’m playing my A-game.”
