As 2014 comes to a close, poker players have the opportunity to look back on the past year’s game play and look forward to the upcoming events for 2015. Of course, the main series that every player looks forward to is the World Series of Poker. Every year, the series features new and exciting events, with massive guarantees and interesting formats. The WSOP has announced a few details for the upcoming season which will be very enticing to pros and amateurs.
Next month the World Series of Poker will be releasing the full schedule for the 2015 series, but for now, the WSOP has given us a taste as to what is to come. The 2015 series will start on the 27th of May and will end with the main event on July 14th. The Rio is hosting the series yet again and the main event will guarantee a minimum of $10 million to the first place finisher.
The series will see the return of the Millionaire Maker and Monster Stack events with nice prize pools for a low buy-in. For 2015, the series will offer a unique event that is new to the series and could see a record turnout. The WSOP would like to host a live poker tournament with the largest field to ever take part in an event and think they can do so with the Colossus. This event will begin on the 29th of May and will have a buy-in of $565 which makes the event relatively affordable, and offer a prize pool guarantee of $5 million.
The event will have two starting flights which will be at 10am and 4pm with a re-entry option. The chip stack will begin at 5,000 and will have blinds starting at 25/50. Antes will be added later on in game play. The event is sure to be a big hit and it will be interesting to see how many people register to compete and if the event will be able to break the record for largest field in a live event.
